Akasha and Gaston scored opening wins at the St. Regis British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup, that commenced on Tuesday June 23. The most important tournament of the season in England is hosted by the legendary Cowdray Park Polo Club, in Midhurst, West Sussex, and it is one of the three Grand Slams of polo, along with the Argentine Open and the US Open. The contest sees nineteen teams up to 22 goals, in participation.
Akasha and White Crane opened fire; White Crane closed the first chukka leading narrowly 3-2, but Akasha claimed the lead in the second (6-5), in what was supposed to be a close contest. But in the third chukka, Akasha took off, and reached half time 9-6 up, and widening their advantage thoroghout the second half until they were victorious 14-11. The winners were presented with the Carlos Gracida Memorial Trophy, a tribute to the extraordinary and unforgettable Mexican player.
The second match saw Gaston and Jehangiri, in a very tight game; by the fourth chukka the scoreboard read a 8-all. But Gaston managed to bounce back in the last two chukkas, and earned the 12-10 win.

The tournament was to be contnued on Wednesday June 24, but, according to the informarion provided by Cowdray Park Polo Club website, both were postponed. Therefore, action will be back on Friday June 26, as follows:
10am: UAE vs. Sujan Indian Tigers
1pm: Jehangiri vs. White Crane
1,30pm: Valhalla vs. Black Bears
4pm: Akasha vs. Signet Segavas
