Pilot and Dutta Corp Show+ are the two first lineup to qualify to the semifinals of the USPA Gold Cup, following their respective wins against Valiente and Shack Attack II, in the first round of quarter finals, that took place on Friday March 17 at the at the USPA-owned National Polo Center-Wellington, set in Wellington, Florida. The USPA Gold Cup, second leg of the prestigious The Gauntlet of Polo, sees thirteen teams up to 22 goals, in participation.

 

Title holders, Pilot, narrowly beat Valiente 13-12, in a nailbiting and very hard fought match, that was decided in the last minutes of play. Meanwhile, the second contest was a very different story – Dutta Corp Show+ overwhelmed Shack Attack II, who were unable to score in the first four chukkas, and claimed an impressive 10-5 victory to secure the second ticket to semifinals.

 

The USPA Gold Cup was established in 1974, and was played at Oak Brook Polo Club, in Oak Brooks, Illinois, before moving to Milwaukee Polo Club, in Hartland, Wisconsin through 1975-1978. In 1979, it landed in Florida. Like the CV Whitney Cup, the USPA Gold Cup will be entirely played at the at the brand new USPA-owned National Polo Center-Wellington, set in Wellington, Florida.
