The VIII Thai Polo Cup continued with the semifinals at Thai Polo Club Argentina, in General Rodriguez. Lavinia and Bellamar Pampa Norte claimed respective victories and qualified for the final.
The finals of the Thai Polo Cup and the Pink Polo Cup are set for Friday, November 26.
The first game of the day saw Lavinia and Colorado go head to head. It was a hard fought match until the fourth chukka, when Lavinia took the lead and went into the last leading by 1.5 goals. Colorado’s Matías MacDonough Jr. scored once again, but luck was on Lavinia’s side. They sealed the victory and secured a place in the final.
Next, Bellamar Pampa Norte kept opponents Santos under wraps in the first half of the game, led by their flagship man, Gastón Maiquez. Bellamar Pampa Norte improved chukka by chukka, ultimately taking the victory, and securing a spot in the final.
The Pink Polo Cup will resume on Wednesday with four games, while the Thai Polo Cup Subsidiary Cups will be played on Thursday.
The first Thai Polo Cup Argentina was played in 2014, with six teams in competition. Set up by Harald Link’s organisation, the series is a significant contribution to Argentine polo. The event has steadily grown over the years, becoming one of the most remarkable and successful competitions of the spring season in Argentina.
