After a few matches had to be postponed due to heavy rain, the Joe Barry Memorial Cup managed to resume on Thursday with the game between Tonkawa and Grand Champions. Tonkawa had a tremendous start, with a great performance by its four players. They achieved a 6-1 advantage over Grand Champions (5 goals by Sapo Caset) by halftime. After four chukkas, Tonkawa was 8-1 up.

Grand Champions Polo Club started to recover in the fifth with four back to back goals by Mike Azzaro. When Juanito Bollini scored another, Grand Champions Polo Club was suddenly only down by two (6-8). Again in the sixth, Mike Azzaro and Juancito Bollini scored to tie the game, quite unexpectedly, with three minutes left on the clock. But Tonkawa won the throw-in, ran the ball and Sapo Caset scored with only 2:12 minutes to go. The bell rang and Tonkawa claimed a very important debut win (9-8).
