The much-anticipated final in the 2019 Joe Barry Cup saw Dutta Corp utilize a balanced offensive attack and an organized defense to defeat Patagones 11-8 on Field #1- home of U.S Polo Assn, at the International Polo Club Palm Beach.

With the previous two match-ups between the two teams providing close contests, Dutta Corp separated themselves in a dominant 4-1 third chukka. Actively using Timmy Dutta downfield as a receiver, Dutta Corp was able to consistently gain the field advantage, forcing Patagones back into their own half. The normally potent counter-attack of Patagones, led by Tomas Garcia del Rio and Santiago Toccalino was contained throughout most of the game by a passive defense of Dutta Corp that kept their opponents in front of them and prevented break away runs. An efficient 8 for 12 from the field and 3 for 4 from the penalty line gave Dutta Corp the edge they needed to hold on for the three-goal victory to capture the Joe Barry Cup. Three missed penalty attempts for Patagones in the final chukka, all from the 60-yard line on Penalty 4’s and 6’s sealed their fate, as Dutta Corp held on for their fifth consecutive victory to start the season and claim their second straight tournament victory.

Dutta Corp’s Gringo Colombres won both the MVP (as in the Herbie Pennell Cup) and Best Playing Pony for “Coquito” for the second consecutive week.
