Amaro defeated PTC Polo Team 7.5-4, and won the Congressional Cup, after the final that took place at PLYRS Polo Club, set in Wellington, Florida, United States, on Sunday April 19. The club hosted its first and much successful season, organised by Minuto Siete. On this occasion, the Congressional Cup saw five teams up to 6 goals, compete.
While Amaro reached the championship match undefeated – they won their two previous matches, the remaining teams were tied at a 2-1 record. That’s why they had to do a penalty shootout to determine Amaro’s contenders, and PTC were victorious. As a matter of fact, both lineups clashed in the tournament’s opening day, as well.
Following two very balanced chukkas, Amaro, who received 0.5 goal on handicap, took control of the match and by the end of the third chukka, they claimed a 4.5-2 lead. Although PCT Polo Team tried their best to make a comeback, the deal was said and done – Amaro won 7.5-4 and took the Congressional Cup home.
