The qualification tournament, which gives two teams places to compete in the Argentine Open at Palermo, resumed on Thursday, November 13. The day saw Cría GT and La Esquina reign victorious over La Cañada and Alegria, respectively. Six teams, between 28 and 32 goals, are fighting for the chance to play the most important polo tournament in the world. 

 

The top two teams will be revealed on Monday: 

 

LEAGUE A:

  • Coronel Suarez vs. Cría GT – the winner will qualify for Palermo. 

LEAGUE B:

  • Alegria vs. La Irenita II. If La Irenita II wins, they will earn a place in the Argentine Open. If Alegria wins, all three teams will be tied on points, meaning that the second team to qualify for Palermo will be determined on goal difference.

 

QUALIFICATION – DAY 2:

 

CRÍA GT 13-12 LA CAÑADA

Cría GT: Valerio Zubiaurre 8 (2 goals), Tomás García del Río 7 (2, 1 penalty), Joaquín Pittaluga 8 (1 penalty) [replaced by Magoo Laprida 8 (2) in the second chukka), Iñaki Laprida 8 (6, 5 penalties). Total: 31.

La Cañada: Genaro Ringa 7, Lucas Díaz Alberdi 7 (3), Victorino Ruiz Jorba 7 (1), Martín Aguerre 7 (8, 3 penalties). Total: 28.

Score Cría GT: 2-1, 5-2, 7-3, 8-6, 11-7, 11-8, 13-12.

Third Man: Esteban Ferrari.

 

LA ESQUINA 12-10 ALEGRÍA

La Esquina: Pascual Sáinz de Vicuña 6 (2 goals), Juan A. García Grossi 7 (3), Lucas James 7, Bautista Bayugar 8 (7, 6 penalties). Total: 28.

Alegría: Gringo Colombres 7 (5), Ezequiel Martínez Ferrario 7 (1), Sebastián Merlos 8 (4, 1 penalty), Fred Mannix 8. Total: 30.

Score La Esquina: 0-2, 2-3, 4-4, 5-6, 9-6, 11-6, 12-10.
