A remarkable Hazel Jackson, who delivered a top performance and produced seven goals, led Why Not to an impressive 8-1 victory over then defending champions, Augustinus Bader, and won the Open de France Féminin, in the final that took place on Sunday September 20, at the Polo Club du Domaine de Chantilly.

“It’s been the best month in Chantilly that I can remember”, quoted Hazel after the match, and no wonder! The contest closed the first chukka with Why Not leading by a narrow 2-1, and it was expected a balanced game. But to everybody’s surprise, from the second chukka onwards, Why Not seized the reins and swept Augustinus Bader, who weren’t given any chance to stop their opponents. In the second chukka, Why Not had already scored three consecutive goals to earn a commanding 5-1 lead at half time (the contest was played at four chukkas), and added one more in the third. By this time, the indomitable Hazel, who already converted four penalties, was the most outstanding player on the pitch.

Although the damage has already been done, Why Not didn’t slowed down in the last chukka – in addition to the formidable performance delivered by Hazel Jackson, the whole team featured a strong and solid team play, leaving Augustinus Bader behind and unable to do anything to avoid such a defeat. And they left the work done after adding two more goals in that last chukka to secure the impressive 8-1 win that allowed them to lift the trophy of the Open de France Féminin.
