UAE Polo defeated Dubai Wolves by CAFU by a 11-9 score and qualified to the championship match of the Dubai Silver Cup, following the semifinal that was played on Wednesday January 31, at the magnificient Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Therefore, Sheikha Maitha’s team and current title holders, will go head-to-head against Mohammed Al Habtoor’s foursome, in a new edition of the derby of the Middle East.

 

Dubai Wolves by CAFU got off to a stronger start in the first half, but the contest was hard fought as a whole, with both teams providing a solid team play. However, UAE Polo managed to bounce back in the two last chukkas, and produced enough goals to claim a narrow win, that earned the remaining spot in the championship match of the Dubai Silver Cup, for the second consecutive year. Meanwhile, Dubai Wolves by CAFU are set to play the Subsidiary Insignia Cup against Bangash.

 

The Dubai Silver Cup sees four teams up to 20 goals, in participation, and the finals are due on Saturday February 3.

Categorized within the World Polo Tour’s WPT Cup category, the tournament holds significant global recognition. Winners of the Silver Cup will be bestowed with 60 points, finalists with 30 points, semi-finalists with 15 points, and all other participating players with 8 points, contributing to their standing on the international polo stage.
