The semifinals of the Tortugas Open, the first leg of the prestigious Argentine Triple Crown, will be played on the weekend at Tortugas Country Club. The first stage of the Triple Crown sees eight teams up to 39 goals, compete.

Title holders, Ellerstina, and La Ensenada, recent winners of the Jockey Club Open Thai Polo Club will go head-to-head in search of the first ticket for the championship match on Saturday October 9, at 4pm. Ellerstina will have a significant change – Hilario Ulloa has suffered an injury in the debut match and his place will be taken by Matías Torres Zavaleta.

Previously, La Natividad and Alegria will battle in the semifinal for the Subsidiary Sarmiento Cup at 1,30pm. The match will be played on handicap.

The order of play for Saturday October 9 is the following:

  • 1,30pm – Subsidiary Semifinal Sarmiento Cup

La Natividad: Camilo Castagnola 9, Pablo Pieres 9, Bartolomé Castagnola Jr. 9, Ignatius du Plessis 9. Total: 36.

Alegría: Agustín Merlos 7, Pedro Zacharías 7, Tomás García del Río 7, Fred Mannix 7. Total: 28.

Umpires: Federico Martelli & Martín Aguerre.                        

Third Man: Esteban Ferrari.

  • 4pm: Semifinal Tortugas Open Emilio de Anchorena Cup
