The summer season at Aspen Valley Polo Club, set in Aspen, Colorado, is underway, and the stunning club, sorrounded by the stunning view of the Rocky Mountains. The High Alpine Cup sees three teams, compete, in a round robin series – Audi (Santos Bollini, Grant Ganzi, Tomacho Pieres, Santiago Toccalino), Mountain Chevrolet (Michael Payne, Sugar Erskine, Hilario Figueras, Nacho Novillo Astrada) and The Setai (Melissa Ganzi, Jason Crowder, Nic Roldan, Alejandro Novillo Astrada), who are due to play a round robin; the round robin scores carry over to the final, due on Sunday August 3.
Action will resume on Saturday August 2, with the Saturday Polo Series and Kidz Polo, followed by fun at Kodiak Lake; meanwhile, on Sunday, there will be two games of Wheelie Polo, in the morning and later in the afternoon.
The current reigning champions of the High Alpine Cup are Mountain Chevrolet, who claimed the cup for the second year in a row. Mountain Chevrolet (Fran Spinacci, 1, Michael Payne, 1, Pablo Spinacci, 5, Gonzalito Pieres, 9) defended their 2023 title by defeating Casablanca (Michael Calle, 1, Santos Bollini, 2, Grant Ganzi, 3, Nic Roldan, 8), 9-8.
The High Alpine Cup is named after a Snowmass ski area/lift and High Alpine, an evolution to the legacy of Gwyn’s, a longtime Snowmass favorite, located mid-mountain at the Snowmass Ski Area. Diners experience some of the tradition and favorites from years past, in addition to a newly envisioned take on mountain dining. High Alpine provides food choices that are sourced from a local network of sustainable farmers and partners.
