A new edition of the Royal Windsor Cup, the medium goal tournament hosted by Guards Polo Club, in Windsor Great Park, commenced on Tuesday June 2. The Royal Windsor Cup is the club’s oldest tournament – it was played for the first time in 1955, the year of its foundation by His Late Royal Highness Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh.

The competition sees twenty teams up to 15 goals; the quarter finals will take place on Wednesday June 17, the semifinals are due on Friday June 19 and the finals will be played on Sunday June 12. It’s worth to remember that the Subsidiary Mountbatten Cup is an accurate tribute to Lord Louis Mountbatten, a brilliant naval officer, war hero and a fundamental figure within the British Royal Family, as well as a skilled polo player, who was crucial for the growth and development of the sport in England.

The final day of the Royal Windsor Cup not only brings competitive polo. There’s also the traditional vintage carriage parade; the best carriages were awarded in 2025 by Zara Tindall, HRH Princess Anne’s daughter, His Majesty King Charles III’s niece, and the second granddaughter of the much beloved Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and a remarkable horsewoman herself. In addition, the day at Guards Polo Club is enriched by the extraordinary group, The Knights Of Middle England, who delighted the spectators with their outstanding equestrian skillis, and medieval jousting, wearing armors and the colorful clothes of the Middle Ages.
