The Argentine Association of Polo (AAP) made the official launch of the 2026 spring season in Argentina, in an event hosted at the Campo Argentino de Polo, Palermo, on Thursday September 17. Directives, players, club representatives, sponsors, media and special guests were in attendance. The presentation marked the starting point for the upcoming Triple Crown as well as the X Women’s Argentine Open.
The highlight of the event was the draw of the leagues and the matchups of the three tournaments of the Triple Crown – 133rd. Hurlingham Open, 86th. Tortugas Open and 133rd. Argentine Polo Open Championship. The series will see the best players and teams worldwide, as usual, and is set to comemnce with the opening match of the Hurlingham Open, on Tuesday September 22. The Triple Crown will come to an end with the much anticipated championship game of the Argentine Open, at Palermo, on Saturday December 12.
With regards to the Argentine Open, it was established that La Natividad La Dolfina, the current Triple Crown title holders, and Ellerstina Indios Chapaleufu are first seeded within League A and B, respectively. The former will be completed by La Hache, La Ensenada and Don Ercole, and the latter will feature Las Monjitas, Hiper Polo and La Aguada. The two remaining spots will be filled with the two teams that will emerge from the qualification tournament.
Also, the matchups of the Hurlingham Open, the first leg of the Triple Crown, have been revealed. On the first day, La Natividad La Dolfina will clash against La Aguada and Las Monjitas will face La Ensenada. Ellerstina Indios Chapaleufu vs. Don Ercole, and La Hache vs. Hiper Polo, will play on the second matchdate.
Ladies polo had a significant presence in the launching. The AAP announced that the X Women’s Argentine Open will see six teams between 21 and 38 goals (ladies handicap), in competition. Players from Argentina, United States, France and England will be playing the contest, that will kick off on November 26 at the AAP Headquarters, in Pilar, while the final is due on Friday December 11, at Palermo.
La Dolfina reach this new edition of the Women’s Argentine Open not only as the defending champions but also as the foursome who won the tournament more than anyone else – five times. UAE, who claimed the title four times, will aim to re-gain the trophy. It’s worth noting that no less than four 10-goalers will be in participation – Hope Arellano, Hazel Jackson, Mia Cambiaso and Candelaria Fernández Araujo, as well as Lia Salvo, winner in 2019 and 2020, and the all-time top scorer of the ladies tournament.
So everything is settled, and the countdown has just began. Hurlingham, Tortugas and Palermo will welcome the best high goal players, both ladies and gentlemen, as the eyes of the world will be set in the most expected polo season of the year – Argentina.
