A new tournament commenced at Ayala Polo Club, set in Sotogrande, Spain – the Copa Joseph McMicking, that will run through June 4 to June 14. The contest, one of the most traditional competitions in Sotogrande, sees teams up to 8 goals, in participation. The games will take place on the San Enrique de Guariaro grounds.

The Copa Joseph McMicking is a remarkable tribute to Joseph Rafael McMicking, a Philippine-American businessman, who founded Sotogrande with his wife, Mercedes Zobel de Ayala, in 1964. The first polo field was built a year later, starting what would become one of the most coveted destinations of the sport on an international level. McMicking contributed a great deal to the development and growth of polo in Sotogrande, and the tournament celebrates his legacy.
