All is set and ready at The Real Club de Polo de Barcelona to host the 55th. edition of the Barcelona Polo Challenge Negrita Cup, one of the most remarkable polo competitions in Spain. Six lineups made of players from several European countries as well as Argentina, will take part of this prestigious competition, that will run through Sunday May 21.
The most significant news is that the event forms part of the Iberian Polo Tour, the tournament series played in Spain, that features some of the best players. The venues of the Iberian Polo Tour are Sotogrande and the Real Club Puerta de Hierro de Madrid.
The six participating teams are split in two leagues, that will play against each other.
The terrace of the RCBP will be the highlight of the tournament once again; exclusive VIP tents will provide tasty and exquisite food to all those in attendance, while enjoying remarkable polo games.
“The Barcelona Polo Challenge Negrita Cup will be an open and warm event, as usual. The club celebrates this tournament, which is confirmed by all the participating players. Polo players and spectators are able to enjoy three hectares of green space in the heart of the city, that include very good gastronomic offer and music”, explains José María Trénor, the tournament director.
Negrita, Cotton House, Almasanta, Los Mariachis, Engel & Völkers and No polo No Life are the six lineups due to compete during the six days of this prestigious tournament. The most outstanding player is no less that 5-goaler Pelayo Berazadi, Spain’s best player. There are two ladies as well – No Polo No Life’s Polina Nazarova, from Hungary and Almasanta’s Alicia Gariador, who has a long career within Spaniard polo. Coming from Argentina are Benjamin Araya (5), who will play for Cotton House, and Los Mariachis’ Miguel Amieva (4).
