AlUla and Richard Mille claimed debut wins on day one of the second edition of AlUla Desert Polo. The tournament takes place in one of the most exquisite polo destinations in the world, AlUla, in Saudi Arabia, the home of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hegra.
The tournament delighted royals, celebrities, and special guests who were thrilled watching the sport of kings. The two matches showed the passion and horsemanship of the best players in the world. The event is organised by the Royal Commission for AlUla, in partnership with the Saudi Polo Federation and its President, Mr. Amr Zedan. Some of the most renowned international players and patrons are competing in the Saudi desert: Patrons and players from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, France, and the United States, including the best polo player in the world: AlUla Ambassador Adolfo Cambiaso. The Argentine 10-goaler plays alongside HRH Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Salman and Mohammed Al Habtoor.
In the opening match, Team AlUla defeated Bentley (David Stirling, HRH Prince Abdulrahman bin Faisal AlSaud and Jean-Francois Decaux) by 7 goals to 5 score. Following the match, the enthusiastic audience enjoyed a live horse show and were invited to taste the delicacies of Arabic-led fusion menus, curated and brought to life by local graduates who trained at the legendary Ferrandi School.
Next, Richard Mille (brand ambassador Pablo MacDonough, Melissa Ganzi and Noor Abu Khadra) defeated Saudia (HRH Prince Salman bin Mansour Al Saudi, Juan Martin Nero, Dr. Hussam Zawawi) by 9 goals to 7.
