The Queen’s Cup continued on Saturday, June 4, as Park Place and Great Oaks Les Lions claimed respective victories over Dubai and UAE to secure places in the semifinals. The Queen’s Cup sees fifteen teams, up to 22 goals, compete for the coveted trophy.

First up, Park Place claimed a narrow 16-15 win over Dubai in a very tough game. Park Place’s Facundo Pieres scored 10 goals while Dubai’s Camilo Castagnola found the flags 13 times. The contest between these two powerful lineups was very intense. Andrey Borodin’s team took an impressive 10-5 lead by half time, but Rashid Albwardy’s organisation made a spectacular comeback in the fourth – they outscored Park Place 5-0 to tie the game 10-all, then secured another new tie (11-all) in the penultimate chukka. The sixth and last chukka was a battle as both teams scored but at the end of the day, luck was on Park Place’s side, and they secured the first place in semifinals.

In the follow-up, Great Oaks Les Lions, winners of the Justerini & Brooks Prince of Wales Trophy, went head-to-head with reigning champions, UAE. It was a hard fought game decided in the final moments. Sheikha Maitha and her boys had a narrow 10-9 advantage with only one chukka left to play, but Dillon Bacon’s team seized the reins to outscore UAE 2-0 in the last and take the 12-10 victory to qualify for the semifinals.
