The Torneo Clasificatorio por la Copa Remonta y Veterinaria (Qualification Tournament), kicked off on Thursday September 24, at the Argentine Association of Polo (AAP) Headquarters, in Pilar. The highly competitive contest underwent a major change this year – until 2025, the Qulification Tournment awarded two spots to play the Argentine Open. From this year onwards, the competition includes the Tortugas Open; this means that two teams will be eligible to play in two of the three tournaments of the Triple Crown.
The Qualification tournament sees eight teams between 28 and 34 goals, in participation. Teams are split in two leagues, and the winners of each league will be able to play Tortugas and Palermo.
These are the results of the opening day:
- League A
La Irenita 17-9 La Dolfina III
It’s worth noting that La Irenita lineup includes no less than Pablo MacDonough and Polito Pieres.
Velay 17-14 La Ensenada
- League B
La Zeta Kazak 13-10 La Irenita II
Guillermo “Sapo” Caset has been hired by the Argentinian-French foursome.
La Dolfina II 12-7 La Matera
With the first matchdate done, the race for the two coveted tickets to Tortugas and Palermo is in full swing, and promises to be exciting to the last minute.
