The Open de France Engels & Volkers, the culminating stage of the French Triple Crown, underway at Polo Club du Domaine de Chantilly, continued on Sunday, September 12, with three games, as Marquard Media, Kazak, and Los Dragones all took wins. The tournament sees ten teams, up to 16 goals, compete.

Marquard Media claimed a 13-8 victory over Clinova Noa Capital (the match was originally due on Friday but was delayed due to heavy rains). Next, Kazak became the first team to qualify for the the semifinals after defeating Brittany Polo by 12 goals to 7. Finally, Los Dragones narrowly defeated Mungo by 9 goals to 8 in OT as Sam Sztarkman scored the golden goal.

Some of the most renowned players in the world, such as Talandracas’ Camilo Castagnola, runner up of the 2020 edition, Tomás Beresford, Martín Aguerre Jr., Clemente Zavaleta, Juan Gris Zavaleta, Alejandro Muzzio, Bautista Bayugar, Tito Ruiz Guiñazu, Facundo Llorente, Jero Del Carril and Rufiino Bensadon, are playing in the tournament. Many top French players, such as Brieuc Rigaux, Pierre Henri N’Goumou, Robert Strom and Patrick Paillol, are also competing.

The Open de France Engels & Volkers now enters its final stage with the last league games. Action resumes on Monday, September 13, with a match between Sainte Mesme and Talandracas, at 5pm.

 

The final of the Open de France Engels & Volkers is set to be played on Sunday, September 19.
