The Open de France Engels & Volkers, the apex of the French Triple Crown, is underway at Polo Club du Domaine de Chantilly, located just 30 minutes from Paris. The tournament sees ten teams, up to 16 goals, compete. Mungo, Talandracas, and La Magdelaine claimed debut wins on the first day of action.

Many of the most renowned players in the world, such as Talandracas’ Camilo Castagnola, runner up of the 2020 edition, Tomás Beresford, Martín Aguerre Jr., Clemente Zavaleta, Juan Gris Zavaleta, Alejandro Muzzio, Bautista Bayugar, Tito Ruiz Guiñazu, Facundo Llorente, Jero Del Carril and Rufiino Bensadon are competing in the tournament. Many French players, such as Brieuc Rigaux, Pierre Henri N’Goumou, Robert Strom and Patrick Paillol, are also competing.

In the opening match, Mungo took a narrow 8-7 win over Le Pommeray HM. Up next, it was third time lucky for Talandracas, who showed no mercy against recent winners of the Coupe D’Or, Los Dragones, taking an impressive 10-4 victory. It is worth noting that both teams clashed in the league stage of the Coupe d’Or, in Deauville, where Los Dragones emerged victorious. The busy Friday closed with La Magdeleine defeating Clinova Noa Capital by 9 goals to 5.

The Open de France Engels & Volkers continues on Saturday, September 4, with a game between Brittany Polo and Marquard Media, due at 5pm.

The final of the Open de France Engels & Volkers is set to be played on Sunday, September 19.
