Liwa defeated Jumeirah by 7 goals to 5 to win the New Year Polo Championship on Friday, December 30, at Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The tournament, held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Falah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club, saw four teams, between 0 and 4 goals, compete.

In the meantime, Sir Baniyas (who received 1.5 goal on handicap) narrowly defeated Al Marmoon by 4.5-3 goals to win the Subsidiary Trophy.
