Ayala defeated Jolly Roger by an impressive 16 goals to 7 to win the coveted Medium Goal Volvo Bronze Cup on Saturday, July 31, on Ayala Polo Club’s number one ground. After two balanced first chukkas that saw the game tied 3-all, Ayala slowly began to dominate their opponents.

Led by top scorer, Benjamin Panelo, Ayala seized the reins in the third chukka, displaying their best polo to outscore Jolly Roger 3-0. From then onwards, Ayala was the absolute dominating force in the match, widening their advantage over the remaining chukkas. Their remarkable dominance, both in attack and defense, allowed them to hold their contenders back, blocking every one of Jolly Roger’s attempts to close the gap. With only one chukka left to play, the deal was almost said and done – as Ayala held a 14-4 advantage. They scored a couple of goals in the last chukka to secure the 16-7 win and the title.

Therefore, the Volvo Bronze Cup came to an end, and the 51st International Polo Tournament in Sotogrande has already named its first champions: Sainte Mesme (high goal), Ayala (medium goal), and Cotton House (low goal).
