A new destination for polo in Europe is coming up – the Mediterranean Masters, which is not only the first edition of the tournament but also the first ever 14-goal contest to be played in the island. The competition will take place through Friday June 5 to Saturday June 13, and will see six teams, partake, in lineups that combines a mix of experience, youth and the participation of renowned names of the sport. Teams are split in two leagues.

 

The teams that will battle for the trophy are 45-50 Polo Team, Maass Polo, Electric Polo, Riva, RPA and Barralina. Sebastián Merlos and Adrián Laplacette are the two most remarkable players who will take part of the event, alongside the usual participants of the European season, such as Valentín Novillo Astrada, Juan Uribe, Santiago Marambio, Gastón Maiquez, Miguel Duggan and Juan Ambroggio, among others.

 

One of the teams to follow is 45-50 Polo Team, that includes Sebastián Merlos, Santiago Harriott, Julián Díaz and Francisco D’Agostino. Adrián Laplacette is leading RPA, while Electric Polo’s most outstanding players are Gastón Maiquez and Marcos Rooney.

 

But beyond everything, the Mediterranean Masters is a remarkable event for Mallorca, with the idea of maintain the growth of polo in the island, and opens the door to other tournaments to come within the next few years. The Mediterranean Masters’s aim is to start writing the first chapter of a hopefully long story with polo, and provide high quality polo in one of the most attractive destinations.
