The 124 Open de Paris Engel & Volkers, third and ultimate leg of the Polo de Paris Triple Crown, resumed on Saturday with three matchdays at two different venues: Sainte Mesme and Bagatelle. The tournament sees six 10-goal teams in competition.

Saturday matchday:

SAINTE MESME 8-5 SANTA CLARA (at Sainte Mesme)

Saturday’s matchday kicked off early in the morning at Sainte Mesme, where the locals got the first advantages of the contest from the first throw-in. Willy Saget-Johnson, who replaced Birger Strom, scored the opening goal. On the other hand, Robert Strom, one of the best players on the field, was really effective and the key for his team. Nicolás Escobar showed a great level for Santa Clara, while evergreen Francisco Escobar really enjoyed playing alongside his grandsons.

RED FALCON 8-6 LA CONCEPCION (at Bagatelle)

Laurent Dassault’s Red Falcon needed a win to keep the dream alive of getting into the penalty shootout. La Concepcion reached the halftime winning by 1, but in the last 2 chukkers Red Falcon showed some of its best level in the season to beat one of the favourites to the title.

LE POMMERAY 7-6 KAZAK/OUTSIDERS (at Bagatelle)

Defending champions Kazak/Outsiders had a strong start, scoring 4 times in the opening chukker thanks to the goals by their professionals, Clement Delfosse and Patrick Paillol. But they faced an unstoppable Facundo Fernández Llorente, who was the greatest player of Saturday’s matchday and scored 7 goals for Le Pommeray including a 60 yard penalty on the extra chukker.

After the three matches, a penalty shootout took place between 3 teams (Le Pommeray, Sainte Mesme, Red Falcon) to set the other finalist of the competition. The most effective team was Sainte Mesme, who will play for the title against La Concepcion.
