It is that time of year again for IPC (International Polo Club Palm Beach). Another high goal season kicked off on December 31 with Tackeria claiming the Herbie Pennell Cup. This year the 20-goal will be stronger than ever, in a season marked by big changes for the club.

“It is exciting to see the new team lineups and work with first time teams,” says Jimmy Newman from IPC. “This year, Curtis Pilot’s Sonny Hill Team and Sayyu Dantata’s SD Farms Team are joining us. In Polo Operations, we are working with teams on tournament entry procedures, horse health requirements, communicating new USPA rule changes to the teams, and discussing format options for the 2018 twenty-goal tournaments.”

Newman highlights: “Most of the IPC fields were re-grassed this past summer to ensure the quality of the playing surface. Our 20-goal season appears stronger than ever. Last winter we had eight teams in the Joe Barry 20-goal; this coming season we have eleven entries. In addition, at the request of our 20-goal teams, we have extended their season until April 1. The IPC 20-goal season has become very competitive. Last winter there were many very good teams which made it impossible to forecast who would win.”

In order to start one of the most competitive and prestigious seasons in the world in the best way possible, International Polo Club has been working hard to make 2018 their best year yet. Besides the work done on the fields, the club has undergone several improvements over the last few months, including alterations to the spa and pool, as well as renovations inside the member gym. The Mallet Grille and 7th Chukker menus have been updated and will feature a new array of lunch and dinner options.

Caroline Roche, from IPC’s marketing area, states: “Several new vendors will also be at IPC this winter, open during the week to members and on Sundays to the public. Michelle Farmer Collaborative, SoCapri, Milou, and Stefano Laviano will be on-site, just to name a few. The Sports House will be open as well during the season with IPC memorabilia.”

“Besides high goal polo, the International Polo Club is hosting several social functions throughout the season,” shares Roche. “Private weddings, corporate events, and intimate family gatherings will take place as well as various Member social events at the club. Depending on the date and logistics of the event, reservations are still available for 2018.”
