RS Murus Sanctus qualified for the final of the Hurlingham Open, the second leg of the coveted Argentine Triple Crown, following a 13-12 win over title holders, Ellerstina, in a thrilling semifinal at the Hurlingham Club, on Saturday, October 30.

The tournament sees eight teams, up to 39 goals, compete. Teams are split into two leagues.

For the first time this season, RS Murus Sanctus played with their complete lineup. Facundo Sola, who was unable to play the Tortugas Open due to an injury he sustained in the Jockey Club Open, was back on the field, as was Pablo Mac Donough, who has now fully recovered from a torn muscle. Ellerstina, on the other hand, did not have their full team playing the semi, as Nicolás Pieres, who had a bad fall in last week’s match against La Dolfina Brava, was replaced by Alfredo Cappella.

As expected, RS Murus Sanctus and Ellerstina played a hard-fought match. Ellerstina took a 8-6 lead by the end of the fourth, but the tide turned from the fifth chukka onwards, as RS Murus Sanctus outscored Ellerstina 4-0. The advantage was crucial for Corinne Ricard’s organisation, in order to retain the control of the game. From then on, RS Murus Sanctus seized the reins by displaying a great team play, allowing them to maintain control of the play. Sapo Caset gave an outstanding performance, scoring eight goals. Ellerstina struggled to close the gap, but RS Murus Sanctus kept their grip over their opponents. They managed to secure the win and qualify for the Hurlingham Open final for the second year in a row. Coincidently, in 2020, they lost the final to Ellerstina. Today, they had the last word and now the French organisation will play for its first Argentine Triple Crown title.
