Hublot Polo Gold Cup Gstaad: Albinati Aeronautics and Kielder Agro Group are through the final

Following the games played on Saturday August 21, the Hublot Polo Gold Cup Gstaad has the final set – Albinati Aeronautics and Kielder Agro Group will go head-to-head for one of the most traditional tournaments of the polo season in Europe, at the splendid Polo Club Gstaad, located within the stunning sorroundings of the Swiss Alps. The contest sees four teams up to 14 goals, compete.

 

Albinati Aeronautics and Hublot opened fire, in a match that saw a 3-all by the end of the first chukka. Title holders, Hublot, led by a brilliant Gonzalito Pieres, who produced seven goals, managed to bounce back to claim a 6-4 lead. However, Albinati Aeronautics bounced back and scored three goals to take a 9-7 advantage with only one chukka left. Nothing was said and done yet – in a very intense last chukka, Hublot displayed their best polo and tied 10-10, until Albinati Aeronautics were awarded with a 60 yards penalty with a handful of minutes in the clock. The penalty was successfully converted by Facundo Retamar, who secured the 11-10 win for Albinati Aeronautics and the first ticket to the final.

 

Up next, Kielder Agro Group and Gstaad Palace played a dramatic game that ended with the former victorious 6-5 in extra chukka. Gstaad Palace had a better start, leading the first two chukkas (2-1 and 3-2), until Kielder Agro took a 5-4 lead in the third and tied in the last chukka, through a 60 yards penalty conversion by Santiago Loza, that sent the match into overtime. The winning goal for Kielder Agro Group in extra chukka came from Manuel Fernández Llorente through a 30-yards penalty conversion.

 

The order of play of the last day of the Hublot Gold Cup Gstaad on Sunday August 23, is the following:  

  • Third place

1,30pm: Hublot vs. Gstaad Palace

  • Final Hublot Polo Gold Cup Gstaad

3pm: Albinati Aeronautics vs. Kielder Agro Group
