The IFZA Silver Cup came to an end on Friday, February 5, as Habtoor defeated UAE Polo by 11.5 goals to 8 to give Mohammed Al Habtoor’s team the title for the first time in eight years! The last time they won the opening tournament of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series trophy was in 2013, when the competition was still rated at 16 goals.

While UAE (who received 0.5 goal on handicap) got off to a stronger start, Habtoor made a quick comeback in the second, seizing the reins to take control of the match. However, Sheikha Maitha and her boys never gave up – they managed to bring the difference down to just 0.5 goals a couple of times, but Habtoor were able to overcome their contenders. Juan Jauretche was the one to seal the deal, scoring the winning goal with only one minute left on the clock.
