The league stage of the Gold Cup came to an end on Wednesday, February 23, with UAE Polo (who had already secured a place in the semifinals) and Dubai Wolves by CAFU claiming wins at Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

 

UAE Polo narrowly defeated AM Polo by 11 goals to 10, while Dubai Wolves by CAFU beat Abu Dhabi 12-11 in OT, with Carlos Ulloa scoring the golden goal.

 

Habtoor and UAE Polo have already qualified for the tournament semifinals, so Zedan, Abu Dhabi, Dubai Wolves by CAFU and Ghantoot will play the quarter finals on Saturday, February 26.

 

The Gold Cup forms part of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series, the most prestigious polo event in Asia and the Middle East, held under the Patronage of HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

 

The tournament sees eight teams, up to 18 goals, compete. The finals are set to be played on Saturday, March 5.
