England beat United States 12-9 and won the Westchester Cup, following the game that took place at the National Polo Center, in Wellington, Florida, on Friday March 31.  The Westchester Cup, one of the most remarkable international polo contests, is the oldest polo trohpy and has been played 19 times throughout its 137-year history. The two lineups were equally matched at 25 goals as the game has been played using the players’ highest handicaps, meaning that players competed on their highest handicap on record. For England, all the players’ English handicaps match their world’s highest handicap level. For USA, several of the players will be handicapped based on their Argentine rating.

England’s James Beim and Mark Tomlinson joined forces to win the 2013 Westchester Cup, while Tomás Beresford and Beim worked together to triumph in the 2018 edition. The England foursome joined the competition this year eager to avenge their 9-8 overtime loss, in 2019, a victory that marked the first win for the U.S. after an impressive run of four consecutive wins for England. Today, England returned to the winning path, marking their eighth win within the contest; the U.S. claimed the trophy on 12 occasions.
