Dany’s Polo beat 1896 Polo by a narrow 11-10, and claimed the Copa Bienvenida, the opening tournament of the season hosted by Ayala Polo Club, set in Sotogrande, Spain, in the final that took place on Sunday May 24. The Copa Bienvenida saw six teams up to 8 goals, compete.

Both teams played a very close contest, reaching half time with Tanja Dany’s lineup leading by just one goal. Following an intense last chukka, that saw both teams scoring, Martin Iturraspe sealed a remarkable performance – he produced nine of the eleven goals for his team – to secure Dany’s Polo the first title of the season in Sotogrande.
