The draw of the upcoming CV Whitney Cup, opening tournament of the 22-goal Gauntlet of Polo hosted by International Polo Club Palm Beach, took place on Monday, January 31. The CV Whitney Cup is set to kickoff on Sunday, February 6, with the final is scheduled for Sunday, February 27. The tournament will see nine teams, including reigning champions Park Place, play for the title.

Originally known as the U.S. Handicap, the C.V. Whitney Cup was first played in 1979 (on handicap) in conjunction with the U.S. Open, at Retama Polo Center in San Antonio, Texas. Nine years later, in 1988, the tournament was renamed for C.V. Whitney Cup, as a tribute to Cornelius Vanderbilt “Sonny” Whitney, three-time winner of the U.S. Open (1928, 1937 and 1938) and son of 10-goal Hall of Famer Harry Payne Whitney.
