La Irenita II, La Aguada and Alegria Fish Creek claimed wins on Day Two of the Qualification Tournament, the competition that grants two teams places in the Argentine Open. Matches were held at the Argentine Association of Polo, in Pilar, and the Jockey Club, in San Isidro, on Wednesday, October 27.
The tournament sees seven teams, between 28 and 30 goals, compete. Teams are split into two leagues. The winners of each league will qualify for the most important polo competition in the world.

Los Machitos’ loss against La Irenita meant that the latter are out of the running for Palermo. Now, League A’s La Irenita and Chapaleufu II will go head to head for the first of the two remaining spots for the Argentine Open. Meanwhile, League B sees Alegria Fish Creek leading the rankings, followed by La Aguada and La Fija. La Esquina is already out of the running. However, the situation is a bit more complex in this league – La Aguada, who despite their latest win won’t be able to qualify for the Open – is due to play La Esquina in their last match. If La Aguada wins, three teams – La Aguada, Alegria Fish Creek and La Fija – will be tied in points. This means that if La Aguada wins, La Fija must defeat Alegria Fish Creek by five goals or more to make the cut. On the contrary, if La Esquina wins, the winner of the match between Alegria Fish Creek and La Fija will claim the second place in the Open.
