The Coupe d’Or continued on Wednesday, August 18, at Deauville International Polo Club with a nail-biting game as Mungo beat Talandracas by 8 goals to 7 in a new qualifying round of the traditional Coupe d’Or. The tournament, which has been played since 1950, is one of the most coveted trophies of the international calendar. This year’s edition sees six teams, up to 16 goals, playing for the title.

Even though Mungo outscored Talandracas 3-1 in the first chukka, the match was hard fought. Talandracas bounced back to tie the game in the third, but Mungo re-took the lead in the fourth, widening their advantage to two goals (8-6) with one chukka to go. Talandracas were able to make a last effort in the final minutes of the game, but luck was on Mungo’s side. They sealed the victory to claim their second win in the competition.

The Coupe d’Or final will be played on Sunday, August 29.
