In a very hard fought game, Casa Grande beat Cría Meta by a close 10-9, and won the Puerta de Hierro Open. The championship game took place on Sunday June 14, at Puerta de Hierro Polo Club, set in the outskirts of Madrid, Spain. The tournament, that forms part forms part of the large calendar of the spring/summer Iberian Polo Club, saw six teams up to 8 goals, partake.

Casa Grande and Cria Meta clashed for the first time in the tournament’s final; a final that saw no less than seven goals in the first chukka, in what would be a very tight and balanced match. By half time, the scoreboard read a narrow 7-6 advantage for Casa Grande. The scores remained leveled in the two remaining chukkas, and by the end of regulation time, they were tied at 9-all, which meant that the match went to an extra chukka. That’s when Casa Grande found the flags to seal the deal.
