Yaguara earned a close 7-6.5 win over Salty Polo and claimed the British Ladies Open Championship, the most significant ladies tournament of England, hosted by Cowdray Park Polo Club, located in Midhurst, West Sussex. The final was played on Sunday July 19, in the morning, prior to the much awaited championship match of the St. Regis Cowdray Park Gold Cup. The competition saw eight teams up to 22 goals (ladies handicap), partake.

 

Salty Polo, who received 0.5 goal on handicap, remained in the lead in the two first chukka, until Yaguara, with sisters Mia and Myla Cambiaso, were able to overturn the score in the third, and took a 6-4.5 advantage, that was widened to 7-5.5 in the fourth chukka, with  gol by Milly Hine. Salty Polo’s Cata Lavinia scored with four minutes in the clock in the last chukka, but the efforts didn’t pay off. Yaguara remained scoreless in that last chukka, but they already secured the win and the title.

 

In the meantime, Emita LL were victorious over Cowdray Vikings by an 8-7 score, and won the Subsidiary, on Saturday July 28.

Score Yaguara: 1-3.5, 3-4.5, 6-4.5, 7-5.5, 7-6.5.
