Following a remarkable match, Amaro beat Newport and captured the Banyan Cup, that was played at Grand Champions Polo Club, in Palm Beach, Florida, United States. In a dramatic match, with both teams playing a very even game, that ended in a tie, the contest was decided on a penalty shootout.

Newport – Gene Goldstein, Kris Kampsen, Sugar Erskine and Joseph Schwartz clashed against a strong Amaro foursome – Scott Sorbaro, Grant Ganzi, Nic Roldan and Ricky Bueno. Both teams exchanged the leadership and produced as many goals as possible in order to maintain the scoreboard very tight thoroghout the six chukkas of play.

When regulation time was over, the scoreboard read a tie, so a penalty shootout took place. Shooters were Ganzi, Bueno, Erskine and Kampsen, but at the end of the day, it was Amaro’s lucky day. Nic Roldán was named MVP.

 

Action at Grand Champions Polo Club will continue on November, and will resume during the upcoming 2026 high season.
