Amanara defeated Dubai 14-11 and were victorious of the high goal Copa de Plata Terralpa, for the second consecutive year. The remarkable contest, that put an end of the second leg of the 55th. Torneo Internacional de Polo ATL, was played on Saturday August 15, on Los Pinos Ground 3, at Ayala Polo Club, in Sotogrande.
It’s worth noticing that the final of the Copa de Plata Terralpa featured a special touch – the clash between father and son, Santiago and Pedro Chavanne, in Amanara and Dubai, respectively.
Amanara and Dubai (who received one goal on handicap), played two very even first chukka, until Tariq Albwardy & Co were the dominating force, led by the indomitable Barto Castagnola; by half time they had a three goal advantage, 8-5.
The second half saw Amanara at their best. Led by a remarkable Facundo Pieres, who scored nine goals, Amanara outscored Dubai 3-0 in the fourth chukka, to tie 8-8; the same happened in the fifth and penultimate chukka, but this time Nicky Sen’s lineup took the lead, 10-9. A narrow gap, indeed, so despite Amanara’s outstanding comeback, nothing was said and done yet.
Amanara put the icing on the cake in that last chukka. A somewhat overwhelmed Dubai struggled to stay in the game, but Amanara were determined enough to play their own game. They scored four more goals, being the last by Teo Lacau, that allowed Nicky and her boys to win 14-11, and retain the title they claimed in 2025.
