Albinati Aeronautics claimed the Hublot Polo Gold Cup Gstaad

And finally the Meier brothers did it… Albinati Aeronautics, with the Swiss brothers Fabio and Luca Meier, earned a narrow 8-7 win over Kielder Agro Group and ran out the champions of the Hublot Polo Gold Cup Gstaad. The hard fought final, that was streamed live on PoloLine TV, took place on Sunday August 23, at the Polo Club Gstaad, within the stunning landscape of the Swiss Alps.

 

The contest started with two consecutive ties (2-2 and 3-3), but Albinati Aeronautics seized the reins in the third chukka to take a 6-4 lead over Kielder Agro Group. With one chukka left, Juan Pepa’s foursome were not about to give up, and presented battle in a tough fourth and last chukka. However, Albinati Aeronautics – the Meier brothers, Facundo Retamar and Adrián Laplacette, who delivered an outstanding performance, put enough pressure to hold their contenders back. At the end of the day, the efforts did pay off, and Albinati Aeronautics were victorious 8-7, and lifted the coveted trophy. It was indeed a recognition to the perseverance for Luca and Fabio, as well as for Adrián Laplacette, who was eager to win this tournament, after losing the final two years ago. Moreover, in addition to winning the Hublot Polo Gold Cup, he was named MVP and was the top scorer.

 

Previously, a brilliant Gonzalito Pieres led Hublot to the 7-5 win over Gstaad Palace, to clinch the third place.
