A very busy start of the Open de France BARNES

Octogone (2), Essso, Akasha, Sainte Mesme, Clinova, Jolly Roger and Talandracas were victorious during the three first matchdays of the Open de France BARNES, the most significant polo tournament in France, and that’s currently underway at the Polo Club du Domaine de Chantilly, in La Ferme d’Apremont, in the outskirts of Paris. The tournament sees twelve teams up to 16 goals, in participation. Teams are split in four groups.

 

It’s worth noting that the current defending champions, Octogone, claimed two consecutive wins – against Ahro (Friday September 4) and Essso (Sunday September 6). Meanwhile, Talandracas, the recent winners of the Coupe d’Or in Deauville, lost in their debut game, but they were able to earn a victory on Sunday.

THE FINAL OF THE OPEN DE FRANCE BARNES WILL TAKE PLACE ON SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 20.

 

OPEN DE FRANCE BARNES – FORMAT

The 2026 edition of the Open de France BARNES will showcase an unusual format. The three teams in Group A will play all three teams in Group B; teams in Group C will clash against those in Group D. This means that each foursome without facing either of the other teams in their own group. By the end of the cross-group matches, all twelve teams will be brought together in a single overall ranking, with the top eight qualifying for the quarter-finals. There will therefore be little opportunity to calculate a comfortable route out of a group: every result will count in a common race for those eight places.
