Ellerstina Indios Chapaleufu’s Antonio Heguy’s opened the scores in the first chukka, but La Hache replied quickly, thorugh a 40-yards penalty converted by Benjamin Panelo to tie at 1-all. With the Panelo brothers in command, the first chukka belonged to La Hache, who closed the first chukka with an impressive 4-1 advantage. La Hache remained in the lead thoroghout the first half, while Ellerstina Indios Chapaleufu approached slowly in the scoreboard. By the time the contest reached the fourth chukka the match almost became a battlefield, that saw several unsucessful attempts to score from both sides – many either went wide or were saved in the line, as well as a tough pressure on both sides, two teams that remained on each other’s tails. So close was the game that, after a penalty conversion by Benjamin Panelo, the scoreboard read a 7-all at half time. In the fifth chukka, another tie would come (8-8); but with seconds to go in that fifth chukka, Antonio Heguy managed to secure Ellerstina Indios Chapaleufu their first lead (9-8). Ability, skills, accuracy and guts were crucial for the Pieres-Heguy combo to overturn the result.

Hilario Ulloa tied again (9-9) in the sixth chukka, but Ellerstina Indios Chapaleufu re took the lead (10-9), courtesy of Antonio Heguy; it wouldn’t last much, though –  Hilario came up again to tie once again (10-10). With two chukkas to go, it was anyone’s game, indeed… and there was a very serious risk of an extra chukka…

The situation was repeated in a hotter than hell seventh chukka; Facundo Pieres produced another goal and Ellerstina Indios Chapaleufu were 11-10 up. But Hilario Ulloa came up quickly  to tie at 11-all, followed by another goal from Facundo’s mallet. Now, Ellerstina Indios Chapaleufu were 12-11 ahead. And with only seconds to go in that mad seventh and penultimate chukka, Benjamín Panelo received a pass from his brother Tomás, that found the flags. Yes, with only one chukka left, the match was tied again, 12-12.

But no extra chukka was needed, at the end of the day; that trouble was avoided by MVP, Benjamin Panelo, who sealed the 13-12 victory through a penalty conversion, and the ticket to the final of the Hurlingham Open for La Hache.

It was a great day of polo, in Pilar, because another remarkable contest was played after the main course – Hiper Polo and Don Ercole played a superb semifinal for the Subsidiary Drysdale Cup. The latter had Keko Magrini back on the saddle, who missed the debut, due to an injury, but unfortunately, he injury resented and Keko was forced to leave the field halfway in the second chukka. He was subbed in by Nachi Viana, who previously replaced Keko in Don Ercole’s first game.

After a very balanced match, everything was decided in the seventh and penultimate chukka, when Hiper – playing their first ever Triple Crown – had a 15-12 lead. Torito Ruiz, who delivered another outstanding performance, scored the two last goals for Hiper Polo, to secure the 17-13 win and the spot in the Drysdale Cup final.
