Photographer Evelina Jakovlevskaja currently lives in Chantilly, a small town considered to be the horse capital of the world. Having previously lived in Russia, England and Italy, she continues to travel the world, focusing on capturing the unique world of horses.

The horse is an ancient animal, often portrayed next to a man in works of art, but it remains a mysterious being, almost threatening in its unpredictability. Yet Jakovlevskaja’s photographs often give the viewer a sense of peace, as they show an equal relationship between human and animal, as if the horse were an extension of the rider. Her images are iconic, mixing fear, desire, and curiosity.

Evelina Jakovlevskaja first solo exhibition, ”CONNECTED”, opens on Sunday, September 20, at the Orangery in Polo Club du Domaine de Chantilly.
