The year 2020 was marked by the COVID pandemic, but after adapting to the “new normal”, polo was able to be played in several destinations around the world. Consequently, the World Polo Tour has announced the changes for the 2021 international calendar, which has already begun in Dubai and the United States. The calendar betrays that 2020 was a very competitive year, taking into account what was played, despite the measures imposed in each country.

The most remarkable change in the ranking perhaps relates to the Queen’s Cup, which steps into the Grand Slam category, alongside the US Open Polo Championship and the British Open Gold Cup. There are significant changes regarding the points awarded, as well as new additions, such as Black Bears Women’s Tournament, part of the 2020 Victrix Ludorum played in England.

It is worth noting that Adolfo Cambiaso and Dillon Bacon have been named MVPs of the Year – professional and amateur, respectively. And, as is the case every year, players start 2021 with half the points they earned in 2020.
