Al Habtoor Polo Resort is all set to host a new series of competitions, which will see some of the best players in the world partake, as they announced the calendar for their upcoming 2020-2021 season. This upcoming year will be particularly special as the Dubai Gold Cup Series will be celebrating its 12th edition. Under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, the series has become one of the most competitive polo competitions around the world.

The season at Al Habtoor Polo Resort is set to kick off on October 23 with the Halloween Cup, and will run through to April 9, with the finals of the Dubai Cup. The club is composed of world class facilities, including three polo fields, stables, an exercise track, a five star hotel, villas and more. Not only will the polo season hosted by Habtoor Polo be full of polo tournaments, but it will also invite guests to take their first steps in the sport with the Habtoor Polo Academy.

In 2012, the Gold Cup was recognised by the World Polo Tour (WPT). In January 2014 the WPT committee credited The Gold Cup tournament in the WPT Challenge Cup category. In 2015, it was upgraded from Challenge Cup to WPT Cup, and as of 2017, the tournament stands in the WPT Championship Cup category. The Dubai Gold Cup Series is proud to be the only Tournament Series with this exclusive accreditation in The GCC (Gulf Corporation County) and MENA (Middle East & North Africa) Region, ranking it among the best polo tournaments in the world. It is played under strict international supervision by the Hurlingham Polo Association (HPA), which imposes its rules and provides umpires for the series.
