Coca Cola claimed a 10-8 win against Santa Clara on the opening day of the USPA Gold Cup, the second leg of The Gauntlet of Polo, on Monday, March 8. The competition sees nine teams, up to 22 goals, vying for the title at International Polo Club Palm Beach.

The first half of the match was hard fought. Coca Cola, with Diego Cavanagh filling in for Nicolás Pieres, took a slight advantage in the second chukka, but by half time, Santa Clara had made a comeback to tie the match 6-all. In the second half, Gillian Johnston’s team took off, displaying solid team play that ultimately earned them a very important 10-8 victory.

 

The CV Whitney Cup final is scheduled for Sunday, March 28.
