The international polo season is beginning to take shape, and one of the standout updates is Uruguay’s return to the traditional Coronation Cup, one of the most iconic fixtures on the global calendar.

The Uruguayan team will compete once again in this prestigious tournament after its last appearance in 2022, when it took part for the first time in the historic challenge against England at Guards Polo Club. This time, the team will feature Pelon and Santiago Stirling alongside Ignacio Viana and Jejo Taranco.

For the 2026 edition, while neither the official date nor the England lineup has been confirmed, the presence of the Uruguayan side is already generating excitement across the international circuit.

The Coronation Cup, held since 1911 and traditionally contested between England and a selected international team, remains one of the most important test matches in world polo, both for its history and the level of its players.

Uruguay’s return not only marks a new chapter in its participation in this iconic tournament, but also an opportunity to further consolidate its presence among the elite of international polo.
