This Thursday, January 15, the two semifinals of the UAE Polo Federation Cup were played at the Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club. The tournament featured eight teams of up to twelve goals of handicap, making it one of the competitions with the largest number of participants within the competitive panel.

The first semifinal was contested between UAE and El Basha. Sheikha Maitha’s team underwent several changes (half of the lineup) and fielded, for the first time in a competitive tournament, the Monteverde brothers duo (Lukin and Lucero). The sons of Lucas Monteverde proved too much for the strong El Basha side, which tried every possible way to counter the players’ talent. UAE also relied on the outstanding performance of Fermín Prado, named MVP of the semifinal. In the end, UAE secured a 6–4 victory and booked their place in the final.

In the battle for the second spot in the decisive match, Bhansali faced the home team, Noon. Gonzalo Santamarina once again shone as the standout player and, with a great performance, led Bhansali to a 6–4 win. As a result, Bhansali reaches the final of the UAE Polo Federation Cup as the only unbeaten team and will face UAE, a side they already played and defeated during the qualification stage.
