At the Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club, located on the outskirts of the impressive city of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the new year was welcomed in style as one of the Middle East club’s flagship tournaments got underway: the UAE Polo Federation Cup. In this edition, eight teams with up to a 12-goal handicap are taking part—an impressive number to kick off the high season in the UAE, while awaiting the high-handicap tournaments.

Between Monday, January 5, and Tuesday, January 6, the first round of this competition was completed. All teams played their opening match, and Bhansali, Bangash, Noon, and Bin Drai were the winning teams that started their campaign on the right foot. It is worth noting that each team will play three matches in the group stage; the top two teams will advance to the semifinals, and then move on in pursuit of the grand final, scheduled for Saturday, January 17.
