The first of the last three finals of the 54th. International Polo Tournament, hosted by Ayala Polo Club, in Sotogrande, took place on Friday August 29, with the decisive match of the medium goal Gold Cup, between Muda IZ Polo and Electric Polo.

 

It’s worth to note that both teams already reached finals within the medium goal 54th. International Polo Tournament – while Muda IZ Polo won the Bronze Cup, Electric Polo was a runner up in the Silver Cup. In addition, both lineups clashed three times thoroghout the tournament – Sarah Baune’s team were victorious twice, and Ahmad Firhan’s foursone once. So, it was expected a thrilling final between the two of them.

 

After a scoreless first chukka, Electric Polo seized the reins, and remained in the lead thoroghout the game. However, Muda IZ made an impressive comeback in the fifth chukka, thanks to a remarkable team play, but their contenders were the dominating force. At the end of the day, luck was on Electric Polo’s side, who claimed the 10-5 win and their first Gold Cup in Sotogrande.
