The Ghantoot International Polo Championship, the most significant tournament hosted by Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club, set in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, began on Saturday Februaray 21. The competition, which is the last of the high goal season in the Middle East, has been played for 15 years, and the news is that the UAE Polo Federation decided to low the handicap from 20 goals to 16 goals, in order to make it more competitive and have more organisations taking part of the event.

The contest sees six teams up to 16 goals, partake. Teams are split in three leagues. All the lineups are due to play three games during the league phase.

Up-to-date, Habtoor earned two wins in two matches; in the meantime, both UAE and Ghantoot have claimed one victory each. The remaining teams – El Basha, Bangash and Abu Dhabi – weren’t able to win yet.

The final of the Ghantoot International Polo Championship is set to be played on Sunday February 8.
